The choices in childbirth education are most often limited to hospital sponsored programs. While they are good choices and provide the general information needed to deliver a child, they tend to focus on what expectant parent will experience in the hospital, not childbirth as a whole. Holistic Childbirth and Wellness Services believes that childbirth is much more than a ?delivery?, we believe that childbirth is a holistic event. Our educational philosophy is actually quite simple; we believe that thoughtful education equals empowered childbirth. We believe that sound, evidence based information is the best source to rely upon, especially when it involves the birth of a child and ones intimate and individual needs during pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and beyond.
Holistic Childbirth and Wellness strives to make each client feel comfortable with their choices, therefore, our classes are highly interactive and discussion based. We prefer the role of facilitator rather than teacher because we want our clients to experience the true empowerment that comes when one is responsible for their individual outcomes. We adhere to the Childbirth International educational directive and are proud to be undergoing certification with this outstanding international organization. We are trained and experienced in all aspects of pregnancy and birth.
Holistic Childbirth and Wellness Services has completed training in alternative childbirth and prenatal classes such as Lamaze, Birthing from Within, HypnoBirthing (Mongan), Bradley and many more. Our clients spend time educating and discussing the various philosophies and methods and we work together to create a birth plan that reflects their individual needs and desired outcome. It is your birth; it should be managed your way.
Our classes are only slightly more than hospital sponsored programs and far surpass them in content, quality and duration. We offer private, individual sessions that consist of approximately 16 hours of facilitation. The sessions are scheduled for a minimum of two hours and a maximum of four hours per session and are scheduled to accommodate your needs. Your sessions will be held in the comfort of your own home and are perfect for those on bed rest, with limited mobility or whose schedules do not coincide with normal business hours.
In addition to prenatal preparation classes, we also offer in-depth newborn care classes, Sibling classes, Teen, Moms only, VBAC and breastfeeding support. We also offer classes on subjects such as natural health, aromatherapy, nutrition and wellness.
As an extension of prenatal, birth and postnatal services, Holistic Childbirth and Wellness offers complete Labor Support and Doula services. We have trained with DONA, ALACE, ICEA, and CAPPA and are completing certification through Childbirth International. Doula services are available as an individual service or as a complete preparation and care service coupled with education classes and more. Holistic Childbirth and Wellness believes in personalized services and we are happy to help our client?s select the services they feel will work best with their needs.
To complete the Holistic Childbirth and Wellness experience, we offer the services of an accomplished fine art photographer who specializes in Maternity and birth photography. Artisan gifts such as handcrafted jewelry, apparel, natural baby care and unique custom handbags are now part of our growing list of interesting gifts. It is our way of helping to provide the total holistic birth experience.
Holistic Childbirth and Wellness Services serves Broome County including Binghamton, Johnson City, Endwell, Endicott, Vestal, Maine, Whitney Point and the surrounding areas. Owego, Ithaca and communities in Tioga and Tompkins counties are also served.
We offer all of our services to our community regardless of their ability to pay. Sliding scale and reduced fees are available, free services, payment plans and gift certificates are available as well. It is our mission to help the women, children and families in our area to achieve unbiased, empowered childbirth education and birth choices.
